KUALA LUMPUR: Prasarana Malaysia Bhd has embarked on a new era with the launch of a five year transformation plan beginning, Sept 2018 which include combining its bus and rail academies into a single institution.
Prasarana Group President and Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Mohamed Hazlan Mohamed Hussain said this is possible due to the establishment of the Prasarana Education centre with aspirations to develop it into a specialist hub in land transport technical training and vocational courses.
“We are working on a five-year transformation plan, where we will have many initiatives and strategies that covers all our businesses. Education is one of our focus, to build talent internally and increase our collaboration with other higher education institutions,” said Mohamed Hazlan at the third convocation 2018 ceremony held here today.
During the event, a total of 742 Prasarana Group staff completed various skills training programmess under the Malaysian Skills certification conducted by the Rapid Bus Academy and the Prasarana International Training Academy in Rail (PINTAR), formerly known as Rel Rapid Rail Academy.
They gained their certificates, diplomas and advanced diplomas in various fields of expertise in the rail and bus industry ranging from public transport inspector, control centre operation, signal maintenance and train communication, train station operation, railway system, trains and bus maintenance and bus driving operations.
Mohamed Hazlan said the success of the transformation will enhance collaboration between Prasarana and other agencies and institutions, particularly institutions of higher learning and skills training centres.
Education will be a major agenda in the company’s business where greater investment will be given for development through vocational training and technical education training,” he said.
